Default How long should an S2000 clutch change take?

Mines slowly on its way out so just getting organised,

Been quoted 6 hours which seems a long time compared to other RWD cars I've had where its been relatively easy to whip the box off and swap out.

Excuse my ignorance, but why would it take that long to do?

If its done by just one mechanic then yeah is 6 hours job, Autodata said it is 6 hours as well so normal garage will quote you 6 hours to get this done.

We can normally get it done within 3 hours in/out.

Would you only charge 3 hours labour then if I bought it to you guys?

Why does it take so long?

No, I meant the standard 6 hour quotes- I've founda couple of guides only from people who have DIY and just wondered what the fuss is about

How do you know that your clutch is on it's way out? What are the symptoms?
(I only ask because i've seen MY's ranging from MY02 - MY05 saying that they're going, but my MY03 'seems' fine.

The biting point would be quite high on the release of the pedal, you might feel it slipping at hard load ie revs increasing fast but no real acceleration, a good test is whilst stationary pop it in 4th rev to 4k and try to pull away it should stall not slip or take off.

6 hours quote must be from the Autodata, the master data catalogue for garage use. It provide all the repair time inside for us to give customer est repair time but they always over quote the repair hour. It is only suggestion guideline.

It stinks a bit when pulling away, and doesnt feel as tight when pushing hard in 3rd/4th. Stalls if you try and pull away in 4th but I think its only just on the way out but might as well be ready as I dont want to have to treat it too kindly over summer
