Default I apologise for this...

I have spent the last hour searching and as usual am still confused.

What I am asking is not your standard oil question.

As I said on another thread I am doing a trackday and was wondering which oil you lot use when tracking the car, from searching 5w - 40 seems to be the consensus, which is the best brand though (I'm thinking magnatec or Silkolene)?

Thanks

For tracking just use whatever oil you normally use.

Just make sure it's topped up before and during the day. Make sure you check the oil at the start of the day and at lunch.

That'll be fine thats what I always used for road and track...... just make sure you have some spare oil handy...... and don't panic thinking the levels are too low (if you check after a track session and haven't allowed time for the oil to settle) and overfill as that could end in tears

If you want maximum protection go for a 10w oil. However what you normally use will be fine

Don't overrev it or run it dry or stay out for too long & give it breaks, to let it all cool off (open bonnet).

You'll know then it's too hot, because your brakes will disappear.

Commonsense, really.

Brake oil is far more important to worry about.
