I finally got to drive my car properly
Did my first track day in the S2000 yesterday afternoon at Oulton, the weather was crap at first, the track was very slippery, much more so than I had imagined.
Because it was so slippy I took it easy for my first few laps, but still had plenty of unprovoked tail out action including one big moment in second coming onto the start finish straight.
Whan the track dried the car was absolutely fantastic, I was genuinely amazed at how quick it was and how it cornered, as the afternoon wore on I got faster and faster and enjoyed it more and more, with the exception of two old 911's, nobody passed me (apart from when cooling down).
I even managed to hustle a few potentially faster cars out of the way including a 996, which had very little advantage in a straight line.
The car behaved impeccably and was much easier to judge and control at the limit than I had thought.
I have driven Oulton before but the experince in the S2000 was amazing.
For anybody who is interested here is a video, please excuse my wife's strange ramblings, I am about 1 minute 30 in!

Glad you enjoyed it & learnt what an excellent car you've had all along!
It's really surprising what else you gan give a really hard time to on the track.
Megabusas, etc and Serious 911s will have you for breakfast, but the Boxster-with-piles 911s are a mere amuse-bouche!

The 996 I passed I had harassed for about a lap and a half, I was genuinely very impressed with how fast the S2000 was (so too was he).
The cornering ability is much better on track than I had envisioned, I suppose listening to too many horror stories had put me off pushing it on the road, when it was wet for the first hour it was a handful to say the least, when it dried the car was amazing!

I think you would also find eventually that it is good in the wet too - just needs to be driven for it, but it does impress when you get the hang of it in the wet.
