Default I've got a Wobbly Nob

I've noticed I've got a wobbly gear knob when in neutral at idle. Blip the throttle and it stiffens up nicely.

I'm thinking gearbox or engine mount? Any other suggestions or can someone confirm?

(Awaits innuendos)

try replacing the trans mount. Spoon do a brace with the rubbers which is good. Takes all of 10mins to install

I've got a spare OEM one so will give that a try first. The car does have a lot of miles on it though and the mount by the manifold looks like its had better days too. Difficult to tell whether its knackered or not without removing it though.

Mine even wobbles when in gear cruising at 70mph. Might have to get some new mounts.

I thought a wobbly knob was the norm. Mine wobbles too when driving but not at idle.

Slight play is normal but this is actually wobbly. My other 3 never did this so I'm considering it as excessive play for some reason, which then returns to normal amount of play when applying slight throttle.

Check the condition of the nylon bushes at the base of the shifter and also the rubber surroung in there as well as the clip that locates it.

My knob flaps about like a leper in a wind tunnel - thought it was par for the course tbf! Might get some new mounts out of interest to see what difference it makes.
