Q) Can it be powered by 12v to keep it permanently switched on and left in a car? - Steve
A) No it an can not.
They are stupid then... it comes with a 12v charger and the handset works like a mobile phone, it only charges when require and cuts off at full charge.

Who ever you spoke to is just covering themselves by saying no.

Says nothing about thatcham in by booklet hence asking them so what I shall do is email the question, I will then have an emailed reply which I will save.

Tracker is pants, car thieves steel exotic cars to order, these are placed in a forest for two weeks (Police only search for one week) then they take them to the workshop, find the bug and destroy it.

The difference with a personal tracker is you personally track it and inform the Police where as you possibly wont let it rest!

Couldn't they do the same thing with this device?

Even if it is a better device than a conventional tracker, surely the bottom line is whether the insurers approve it or not?

I agree. Insurance approval is everything.

Unless of course you just get one to find your car when its stolen. Might make it easier for plod to get a brownie point and therefore some action to recover it.

Good find Lloyd

I should have added, whether it'll help with the premium or not it's still a nifty gadget.

Judging by all the negative commets I've heard about trackers they are a total rip off.

They take your money quickly enough but you have no proof the device is working and the recovery rates are pathetic.

By the time plod starts to look your nice shiney motor is on a boat headed god knows where.

It's about time we all stood up to insurance companies. Insurance is about risk mitigation. The basic idea is that I pay money and they accept risk. Not I pay money and they wriggle out any way they can.

Well TBH I am well impressed with this device, used it for the first time last night, sent it a blank text, 5 seconds later it texted me back with a code like 001.5896,-999.56332 which I simply entered into Google Earth and straight away it zoomed in to my garage.

Excellent stuff... Id recommend to anyone, real nifty James Bond styley!

Now thinks of who I can bug!

Me too, the mate who put me onto this is gadget mad, he has loads of gear.

Check this out, you will love this, ever heard of phone clone? Not really legal in UK but ok in other countries, it is a sim card which you put in any old phone, you then send a text to another mobile i.e the partner you do not trust perhaps? They receive a text reading sim-update, they obviously open it, thats it, from that moment on thier phone is now cloned to your sim. Every text they send or receive you get an exact copy, every call they get or call out, you get to listen in but they can not hear you!!

Want me to find the link?
