Anyone know the insurance implications for altering the geometry of their car?

Well it's not actually for the S2000.....

Over on the other board there's a large number of insurance companies representatives....

Such a question always results in "Tell your insurance company your most intimate details, in writing and in triplicate" type responses. UK S2000 Owners are so much more educated!

Oh and if I do have a bump the cambre of the wheels must have been affected on impact....

No that's not a Prodrive setup sheet in the user manual....

If you have it changed outside of manufacturer's tolerances then you offically have to tell them, or it can invalidate your insurance. It's the same with any change - even little things like lear repeaters. (Sometimes they argue that visual changes make your car more desirable to thieves )

I don't know what the specification range is for the alignment on the car in question.

Then again, if you did have a shunt (hopefully not!) then geometry is probably going to be hard to check.

Personally, I've been talking to my insurance company a lot about what I've been thinking about.

Examples -
Mugen Header/Exhasut.
Getting a hand clutch fitted. (Don't need one yet.... thankfully.)
Changing the clutch.
Putting the hard top on. (Can actually get a small discount if I leave it on for x months... but I'm not sure I want to have to miss and nice spells of weather.)

Really?! I haven't mentioned the hardtop to my insurance as I thought they may get agitated about it being a "modified car" or find some other crap reason to levy a whopping surcharge on me. I may have to have words...

I'd have thought putting the hardtop on would have put the insurance up due to the cost of replacing it....

With the car where it is (parked on the road so high security risk) then they'll give a small discount for having the hard top on. But I'd have to inform them before installing/removing it so I'm not bothering.

I was pleasantly suprised as well, but it's certainly harder to break into the car if you can't slash the top.
