Interim service
 

My S is half between its last service at 38k and the next at 47k and I thought it'd be a good idea to get an oil and filter change now. Its my 2nd car so its not driven everyday but it does get plenty of Vtec when its out once its fully warmed up! Spoke to my local dealer, Peter Brooks, and they've quoted me

You do get a stamp for the 6 month service, price would be cheaper if you supply the oil yourself.

Not sure it is worth it unless you do a lot of milage in the car though.

It's an oil change that always causes dicussion.
I for one do not believe in running an engine - and especially a high performance one - for 9000 or 12000 miles without an intermediate oil change.

My preference is to change oil and filter mid-term to look after the engine in the longer time scale.
However if the car is doing appreciably less than that mileage in 12 months then there is no need.

My cars at home (3 Astras and a Corsa) also get mid term oil changes.

Call me old fashioned but after 36 years in the motor trade I have seen too many manufacturers stretching service intervals to please major fleet companies.

Jim your car is a 6 yrs old and now out of warranty. Get a competent independant garage to carry out your service work, using genuine Honda parts and stamp your book.

The money you will save on service work will outweigh the difference you will get on return when selling the car.

Cheers guys. Iim selling the car next year privately as i wont be replacing it straight away so i want to get the best price poss when i do and i just think that having the full service history from Honda (which it has at the moment) will be worth a bit more or at least wont count against it when for any potential buyers. To be honest, I might save 30-40 quid going elsewhere but think the dealer stamp, although most are useless, will be worth more than that. I know its only an interim service but people buying S2k's will at least know its been properly maintained.
