Irish S2KI insurance
Hey Folks
Just wondering what insurance companies my fellow Irish members are using or would recommend?
The challenge was once to buy the car now it seems to be the insurance .....
The policy would be for limited miles, and perhaps a second car on similar terms.
If any members are doing something similar would appreciate any information.
cheers

Ok, it depends how you want to or can do this. For me. I put my primary (I.e. existing) insurance on my S2000. The only was I getting insurance was using my NCB here (some 20 years with no claims). This Policy is via An Post insurance (Aviva underwriter)
Then on the family car I took out a new policy, but used my names driving experience on my wife’s policy (we’ve three cars). This gave me a decent quote on the family wagon.
So, I’ve two policies in my name S2K and family wagon. My wife has her own name on her car.
Costs: S2K was €800, family wagon €900 (but only 2 years NCB).

I have mine on a classic policy with Autoline (Northern Ireland, but they insure cars down south, its underwritten by Allianz). The only requirement is this is your 2nd car, I have an avensis insured with my 10+ years NCB with another insurer.
You dont build any NCB with Autoline as its a classic policy, and its limited to 5000 miles / 8000 KM. It was just under €600 for me. The avensis insurance costs me ~€500, so total of €1100 on insurance. The last time I looked at getting the S2K on its own was over €1200, this way I get both cars insured for less then the S on its own policy.

Excess direct here whirsk @ €1250 but counting the days til she's 15 and I can hand it over to autoline for €5/600.
Strong case to bring in an 02 or early 03 so you're staright onto future classic 15+ policy.
I haven't called yet but got a lead that first ireland can offer similar terms to autoline
