Default In Japan for a month. Is it worth buying car parts?

Hi. So I am in Japan for a month. Is it a lot cheaper there for parts i.e. Super chargers, ecu, spoon and mugen products and then importing them home?

I'm also going in a few weeks, I agree the prices isn't great but I think you could save a nice amount on certain things.
Anyone know if and where you could buy genuine Honda parts, could you just walk in to a dealer and show the part numbers?

Just a couple of pricing examples:
Cam nut for front compliance bushing £54.5 from lings and on amazon.co.jp they cost ¥2,448 which is roughly £18
Clutch release bearing £178.5 from lings and ~£88 from amazon.co.jp

I don't see why you couldn't go to your local Honda dealer...

You might suffer an excess luggage charge, though. And of course, you'll probably get raped for VAT.

If you get them to ship them back to blighty marked spare parts for repair don't they wave the VAT, or am I being naïve. That's assuming you have them shipped back in stead of stuffing your suitcase.

I have recently imported some parts and did the same thing - it was actually a super charger i imported for sample use and spares as I was thinking about selling them but I couldnt ge tthem through customs and VAT, duty and processing fees came out to nearly 30%!!!! of the value..

IMO not worth it unless the parts are stupidly cheap and judging by the GBP - YEN rate i dont think they will be for the majority of stuff. sorry to be bearer of bad news.

Can bring 31kg on the plane so not to worried about weight on small parts.
Not planning to pay any extra VAT but I'll see how it goes through the customs
