Hi everyone
Thanks to everyone who commented on s2000s I was considering. Last weekend I finally took the plunge on an 04 S2K. Had a great drive home and may be slightly addicted to the VTEC kick now...
Sadly just been pouring with rain since, but plan this weekend to change the fluids and get out in it if the weather is nice.
One thing I'm finding is that the interior is pretty tight. I'm 6'2" and find my thigh rubbing the wheel when I go to brake. Is there a cost effective way of improving this (lower seat rails, D shape steering wheel etc?) with parts that can easily be sourced in the UK?
Cheers
Chris
Backyard Special make a lowered seat rail for the OEM seats. Rare to find in the UK, but can import using companies like Nengun. Gets you about and inch, which doesn't sound much, but makes a good difference. I've got one and I'm only 5ft10.
Congrats for being in the Silverstone club, with of course the best wheels
We're all like Praying Mantis's with the seat height, although I'm about 5"10 too so I manage ok. The cockpit design was styled with 9 stone tiny Jap racers cocooned in the seats, hence us normal blokes struggle (some). Get yourself out for a proper drive, just got back tonight from a 4 hour drive to Ribblehead Viaduct via Hawes and back, one of the best roads in England. Absolutely epic. Enjoy mate..
There are times when being only 5’8” is a bonus, 9 stone! That’s a memory now.
I think when I was 20-28 yrs old, that was my weight + 29" waist, I was a flyweight. The young ladies liked it ..
Still only a 32" waist now, but a portly 11st 5.
I'll take a look at the suggestion re seat rails. Car seems pretty clean so far but it has been pouring down almost non stop since I got it so barely been out in it sadly.
Hoping for a dry weekend so I can get the fluids and spark plugs changed and get a proper look at the underside. Don't think it's been messed with much in the past - only modifications seem to be an aftermarket radio and a K&N intake filter, though I'm struggling to tell if the fenders have been rolled at some point (if so the wider wheels have been swapped back to stock at some point!). I do like those wheels though!
Appreciate there are a load of threads asking this - but I've seen in the States most people suggest 10w30 oil, but some suggest 5w40 for the UK. What are all you guys using?
