Default Jump Genie

A change in personal circumstances has meant that my car has gone from a 'daily driver' to one which may not be used for two to three weeks. The problem then is that the battery may be flat due to the constant low drain of the alarm system. And it's annoying having to get out the jump leads to use frm my wife's Civic, or to put it on a trickle charge regularly (it stands on my drive, in front of the garage).

I have seen these portable jump starters advertised so I thought it was worth giving one a try! The one I bought was called Jump Genie at cost £22.95 post free from Amazon.

Today was the moment of truth as the car had not been used for three weeks and would not start. You plug the Jump Genie in to the auxiliary power socket and leave for fifteen minutes. BRUM! first time! So for me it was money well spent.

Hm there are no technical specs on it at all?
15 minutes with an estimated max charge rate at 10A would equal only 2.5Ah, not sure that would make much difference but glad it helped you

My car sits outside when I go away to sea. I leave it on trickle charge by feeding the mains cable through the roof seal and then to the trickle charger, the charging cable back to the battery through the roof and then through the scuttle of the bonnet.

Everything is locked, alarm works and its water tight.

If you're gizmo fails, then could be an idea! I just use a 10 quid trickle charger from eBay.

If your battery is empty after 3 weeks you need a new battery. Mine sits still like that for weeks on end and always just starts.
