Laptop Sat Nav
I'm after getting a cheapo sat nav system which would work in conjunction with my laptop for occasional use. If it has speed camera/optimax locations, that would be useful too.

Not tried it with GPS, but I have loaded the speed camera locations from Pocket GPS World into Autoroute on a PC. Gives an interesting view of where they are around the country. ie wouldn't want to live in South Wales..... (no offence to the natives - lovely countryside, just too many flashers apparently)

Just followed the instructions in AR - don't have AR on this machine, so can't remember the exact options to import, but it was very simple. AR parses the CSV file (Lat/Long & description), gives you opportunity to validate it has done this correctly, then imports them - are they called Map-pins? Any way, only issue was I couldn't work out how tro give the different categories of camera's that GPS Pocket World provides different pin colours, been meaning to have another look. Will try tonight, if I can get my son of the machine in question.

Yes instructions are clear. Basically "data/import data wizard"
One tip that I have just learnt is to select each dataset by highlighting a pushpin, and then changing the "dataset properties" you can identify the different datasets from PocketGPS:
ie in the screen print below: the Yellow are Gatso's
Red are traffic light cameras
Blue are mobiles.
So appears that South Wales either has better source of data for where mobiles are than Somerset, or a lot more mobiles...

It also appears that AR 2005 has a GPS feature to allow realtime positioning on the map, though I haven't tried my Garmin with it. Whether it offers turn by turn directions, not explored that far.
