Default Leaking shock absorber

Could do with some advice please. Recently found I have a leaking rear, drivers side shock on MY04.

It's my daily driver and some spirited road driving, maybe some track days in the future.

I figured my options are:
1) Replace both rear shocks with new OEM
- probably far too expensive, low down on my consideration list

2) Second hand OEM for both rears
- would need to wait for a decent set from a low mileage car to come up

3) Aftermarket shocks - ?Konis
- I'm guessing I'd have to do all 4 corners and replace the springs if I went for this set up

4) Coil overs
- from what I understand it's cost an arm and a leg for decent coilovers and there's no point getting cheapo ones

So that's what I'm weighing up at the moment. If anyone has any advice it's be much appreciated.
My budget is around £750 including labour - don't want to spend much more than this.

Oem new are too expensive.

For a good set of coilovers new without breaking the bank you'll have to spend more than 750 in my opinion, unless you want very hard coilovers with little longevity.

It's rather a lot of money to get a truly decent coil-over, install & set-up. And anything less than truly decent is a CWOM.

Now, if there were someone round here who'd shortly be breaking a tidy ladyboy blue, you'd do a lot better...

Had this happen to me. I took it as a sign to get full spoon setup.

If money is tight id defo consider Meister R. I know people on here slate them but a lot of other forums have positive comments.

I've looked at Meister Rs - which work out at around £650.

I've also looked at KW Variant 1 and Bilstein B14 which are around £950 - quite a bit over budget.

If not the coilovers it'd be Koni Yellow shocks all round - which would be around £500.

So who's breaking the ladyboy blue?

You should be able to get the B14 Bilston set for about £850 from JJC race and rally on eBay. They would be my choice all day long.

Thanks Tozerman - just had a look - they've actually got them a little cheaper than that @ £750.
I've just seen I can get hold of some Meister R for around £450 - are the Bilstein worth the extra £300?

Thanks Ben - I've messaged Marc. I'd prefer going aftermarke - but if I can't get hold of anything decent at a decent price I'll go down this route.

They would be worth it to me is all I can say. The Bilsteins can drop from 10mm downwards and I think the Meisters start at 25mm lower (correct me if wrong) so if looking for a standard ish look then go Bilstein.
Also they would have to be better quality surely? After all you get what you pay for eh?

Fair enough, makes sense.
Are the B16 a big step up from the B14s?

I need the car over the next few days - is it safe to drive with a leaking shock? Will I do any damage by driving it?
