Default Light re-seal.

Hi guys, I'm getting condensation in my rear lights which seems to be the result of the rubber on the lenses. I've seen a few examples of people baking them with mixed results. Just wondering what peoples experience was of doing this, pros/cons and things to watch for?
thanks

one of mine is doing the same could you not use a SOILDERING IRON BLADE to split them would be safer than in the oven or using a heat gun

Never even thought of that, once I build up a bit of confidence I'll give it a go.

I did mine ages ago when I de-tangoed them...bit scary; but just use a low heat, monitor them constantly and check how pliable the glue is regularly.

Hi,

Before you dismantle your lights check the 2 gaskets aren't crushed or worn excessively. My rear lights were fogging up a couple of years ago, not badly but enough to warrant further inspection. The foam gaskets has started to go brittle and were obviously not fully sealing the lights. I bought 2 new ones and this solved my problem.

Might be a safer option before you break out the heat .

Gaskets are readily available, i.e.: Rear light seal gaskets and easy to fit.

Thanks, recall seeing some one mention this also. I remember because the price is still burnt in my memory lol

Can anyone help shed some light on the correct lights gaskets for pre-facelift cars? The link above is for facelift and gives the option to order the required side. The 99-03 listing isn't sided..

https://www.tegiwaimports.com/genuin...000-99-03.html

And here's another listing, which doesn't mention models years...

https://www.tegiwaimports.com/genuin...0-ap1-ap2.html

I found this post suggesting they're not sided, but can anyone confirm? Lings doesn't have their parts diagrams up at the moment. Also, has anyone tried anything similar to the technique this person used, or has the foam been fine for most folks?

Cheers!

Go on eBay and buy some 4mm closed cell neoprene sheet and make your own gaskets using the old ones as a template.
Cuts easily with a pair of scissors and is fairly cheap. It'll take 10 minutes a side.
