They aren't always, and many are quite good.

For example, it's cheaper for me to use my local dealer than to use TGM for most ordinary jobs by the time you factor in travel/fuel costs (and they answer the phone).

I know Redhill isn't in Sussex, but they look after my baby and seem really knowledgeable about our cars

Yes Redhill. Just up the a23 from Sussex ;-)
They are an S2000 specialist and have several s2k qualified techs.

I use my local Honda dealer, because it’s local and they do a great job and happy with the price. If You think the Honda dealer is pricey talk to them and secure a deal, works most times for me

I've used Yeomans Honda in Littlehampton for years. Frequently see CTRs, S2000s and evn the odd NSX in there for work. Not had a problem with them.
