Lost wedding ring in centre console slide compartment
 

So a little background - I'm a keen climber, and take my wedding ring off ahead of an evening session and leave it in the little compartment in the car.

Upon leaving and heading home, I'm fumbling around whilst stopped at some lights to fish it out, but it doesn't appear to be there! But I do feel a little square slot/hole at the front right of the compartment a tiny bit bigger than my finger, so I suspect the ring has made it way in there. This is not what you might call perfect news. If this is the case (and I can't currently come up with any other ideas as to where it's gone) then firstly I need to know how to remove this lot of trim, and secondly, any guidance on the scale of my problem (ignoring the wife's response to this for now..) as in beyond the confines of the sliding compartment, just how deep into the bowels of the car could it have gone??

Do you mean in the glovebox in the centre console? That's a piece of cake to remove, it's just clips .... and you might need to unscrew the gear knob to remove it completely. If you mean the rear glovebox between the seats .... that's a knob and a half to get out / behind but it IS possible.

Oh and if you do take out the shifter assembly and refit it back to front ( it's possible and easy ) you'll realise you can only get half your gears.

Shouldn't need to go past the first couple of steps.

Probably it's found its way onto the inner gear gaiter, or handbrake mechanism.

If God really hates you, it'll have slipped down the carpet somewhere...it's plastic stoppers to remove it.
