Default Low speed metallic clonk over potholes

Hello,

I started to get this last year, and now the car is out of the garage again for spring I'd like to get it sorted. Also the car is in for a service with Honda next week so I'd like to be able to give them some pointers on what to check.

Anyway, when driving at low speeds if I hit a bump or a pothole I get a metallic clunk. It can only be heard from the drivers side with the roof down and it seems to be coming from the back - although difficult to tell. At speeds over 30mph there is no clonk at all. The noise doesn't seem to have anything to do with turning or power application. It sounds like something is loose and hitting something else, but that may not be the case.

Suspension is OEM and 50k old (car is MY00 - 117k).
Car is driving well - no indication of damper failure.
I've had the car on the ramp and dampers are showing no signs of leaking and nothing obvious is loose.
Hub nuts were replaced in the last 50k.
Compliance bushes replaced with Mugen items 20k ago
Droplinks changed 20k ago
All parts on the car are OEM genuine Honda

Any ideas on what I should get checked. I'm thinking hub nuts, diff mount, engine mount, brakes.

Drop link inspection and also the outer ball joint on the control arm - also check the brake pads - sometimes the anti rattle spring(s) are missing and as the pads wear, the clunk gets worse as they chatter in the carrier.

Also spare wheel / fuel release cable.

Thanks UF. Have checked the spare wheel already. Will check the fuel release cable.

Maybe a stupid question, but can you hear it roof up and windows down? If not, then it's probably the roof itself.

Hello LG

I think it's too heavy a metallic sound for it to be the roof, but I will test that tonight

Check the roof latch as well, you would be amazed at the clonk it can make over bumps if it isn't shut properly or loose

I'd copper-ease the brake pads.

Presuming you've already checked the spare wheel.
