Default Lowered Car?

Hi All

I'm thinking of going to look at a car for sale (5 hours drive away).
I've done my research and it seems to be a good car.
One thing though..... I'm pretty sure the car has been lowered.
Should this ring alarm bells?
If it has been, is it necessarily a problem and what is involved in putting it back to stock?

Many thanks, Ben

Depends what its been lowered on and if the geometry has been adjusted.

post some pictures of the suspension.

Need some more info to give you an exact answer but no a lowered car is not a problem. If it has been done with a set of decent coilovers then you should be able to adjust them back up to around OEM height. If its been done with lowering springs then you will need to source some OEM springs to bring it back to OEM height and if they are a pirate and cut the OEM springs just walk away as i would be worried what else they have done to the car.

Depends on many factors.
How much has it been lowered. Guess by your comment though, it would not seem the lowering is that obvious?

Questions are:
1) How much has it been lowered?
2) Has it caused any arch damage?
3) How has it been lowered? Coilovers / different shocks and springs / cut springs?

If it was dropped 20-30mm using either coilovers or new springs and dampers, then I dont think much to worry about, but if it was done by cutting a coil of the existing springs, then I would wonder what else was modified in a cheap *("Pirate") method. Also can cause premature failure of dampers if only springs are shortened and matching dampers not used.

Get the guy to send you all the details. Make sure you are almost 100% happy before going to view. (Esp as it will be a 10hr round trip drive.)

Maybe put more information about the car. Members might recognize it, or live close and be willing to check it out for you.

Good Luck

Thanks guys.

It was only advertised yesterday. It's had a few plates in it's time T11 DOL, Y4DST, P999RPB and now back on to what I presume is it's original, BP05 RHF.

I've never owned an S2000 before so a bit wary. If there is anyone local that would be prepared to look at it for me and give an informed opinion that would be amazing. Should I create a separate post for that?

This is the car.

Thanks again, Ben

Looking pretty standard to my eyes. Anyone modifying would probably change the audio head unit and that looks OEM to me. Wheels have been re sprayed. Looks well priced too.

If it has been lowered which i'm certain it has, would it affect the insurance?
I got a quote for the car but that was before I released it was modified.
