Default Lowering and spacers

Hi,

I here I need spacers if I want to lower the car but then I've herd you only need them if you lower it by so much?

Has anyone got any first hand advice on this?

Is there a spacer kit as such available for purchase and what cost?

Thanks,

John

this is what you need i believe, there are some kits which are two halves so you can just undo the driveshaft bolts and slide them in without removing other components.

hope this helps but i cant shed any light on when you should start using these etc

What type of spacers do you think you need?

Steering rack spacers or driveshaft spacers or both?

Chris.

I'm lowered on Eibach springs, so around 25mm front and 30mm rear. This is borderline for needing these parts, both driveshaft and steering rack spacers. I decided to fit them, run the car and then decide.

I recently imported both the Megan spacers for the steering rack and driveshafts. After doing a lot of reading I think I'll only fit the driveshaft spacers this winter, I've read the rack spacers can worsen any bump steer unless the car is substantially lowered.

Where did you read that? 25/30mm is substantially lowered, and the bump steer spacers and rear toe arms will make a big difference.

The driveshaft spacers may or may not be snake oil. I've done 90,000 miles without any.

As dembo says, lowered by 30mm and you should fit steering rack spacers and rear toe arms to prevent bump steer and be able to set up your rear toe effectively.

With the driveshafts you can swap the buckets over or leave it and have no problems. I'd only bother doing something if you start to get vibration, which I did after a while and have since fitted J's Racing driveshaft spacers to solve the problem. If you get spacers single piece are better than two piece and probably only take about 5 minutes longer to fit than the two piece ones. It doesn't really matter what brand you get so just look around and buy whatever is cheap.

Fair enough guys, but I definitely read a post where this was discussed at great length and lowering 25mm and using rack spacers may make things worse. They were deemed beneficial with a 30mm plus drop. I'll need to have a look for the post.

It's good to hear your feedback and thoughts though. How much are you guys lowered at the front?

I agree that the rear toe arms and shaft spacers are worth doing, they're ready to go on

At 25mm don't fit rack spacers for now and see if you get any bump steer. If you do, then get them fitted, simples

I'm lowered 30mm for the record
