Hi,

Theres a couple of things i dont understand here.
You say you've had the S a couple of months, but have only just noticed the tyre?

How can this possibly be the case, and have you been driving round on it like that for a while?

Apologies if i've misread or got the wrong end of the stick.

It should have been glaringly obvious the first time air was put in the tyres...

I'd have thought it stood out like a sore thumb. Don't you do weekly checks on the car? If not start now. You should check tyre inluding pressures, engine oil and coolant as a minimum. plus having a glance at the brake and clutch fluid is a good idea. Only takes 10 mins to do and might save you life or your engine!!!

Thanks for the feedback chaps. Just for the record, apart from the poor wet weather handling the tyres have been fine up till now. It must have occurred very recently as the tears have only just appeared.

Oh, and you are right, following the wet conditions over the last few days it does need a wash...

This happened on my '72 Lincoln on the A1 at about 75-80 mph the day I collected it from the vendor. When it went 'bang' I thought an RPG had hit the car. Not the most fun I've had in a car weighing close on 5000 lbs with minimal steering and travelling at that sort of speed...

I was so eager to get the car home I didn't follow my cardinal rule of checking the tyres out.
