MOT and LSD
OK so just been to go for an MOT and the chap asked if it had an LSD - I said "yes" and they said their special machine ( Tapey?) was off being calibrated and they don't want to break the diff.
I've since read that this doesn't apply to the diff on the S2000 as it's a torsen diff and behaves like an open diff unless power is applied. Never had this problem before and never seen a single post that states "MOT ruined my diff" so pretty sure there's nothing to worry about, but thought it was worth asking anyway - is it OK for normal roller brake testing on the S2000 where they spin up the wheels and apply brakes? |
When I worked in a Honda dealer all S2ks and any 4wd cars were tested using a Tapley meter, however since it has been tested in a subsequent employers workshop it has been tested using the Tapley and on the rollers, I have been told that it the fact that the rollers are driving the wheels rather than the other way that might cause damage, awaiting someone to confirm this still.

I was under the impression they spin up one wheel at a time or at least independently and that's what might cause issues with LSDs, anyway the Tapley meter is back from calibration today so he'll be testing on a drive rather than the rollers anyway.

straight pass, no advisories - but what would you expect :)
