Default My first 'proper' mod

Well, having changed the stereo, added the glove-box organiser, and had the CG alignment, I've now purchased some lovely JDM BBS alloys.

They are in very good nick with only a couple of marks and currently have no tyres on.

This has made me think about getting them refurbed/powder coated before fitting. However, as I know nothing about this, I'm after some advice.

First of all, I have a black car, so no silly dark colours, silver is the only way to go.

However, as I have an 02 car, I was thinking that it might be a nice idea to have the wheels finished in the same 'shinier' way that the original 02 wheels are, at least over the 00 wheels.

There is also the issue of powder coating, is this worth doing, or is a simple polish and laquer sufficient? If I did get powder coating, can I still achieve the shinier look?

Any techincal advice, as well as "what it should cost" warmly welcomed.

I currently have one full set of 02 wheels, and a pair of 00 rears (from Havas' car). Once the tyres on the 00 wheels are used, I'll probably be getting rid of them.

As I only do 2-3 track days a year, I'll probably use the JDMs on and off track.

Why do you ask?

I know you do some track days, and brake dust is not kind to alloys is all.

Can I ask what you paid for the wheels?

Any weight saving and what size are they?

They were 2nd hand, and are 16". I believe they offer a substantial weight saving over the OEMs

3lbs lighter, according to this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=110624
