Steven - You are wrong on this one - the Mugen V2 intake can be used with a duct cut out in the front bumper.

Jamie - nice finish on the bumper mate

Move the plate though - you'll seriously impede the efficiency of the radiator.

Doesn't look so bad on a black car, like in AB's Mugen pic, but it looks really out of place on a yellow car.

IMHO, of course.

Still, what do I know? I drive a car with a 40 year old design and the engine at the wrong end

You could always use an Alex duct to finish the job off...

Couldn't the plate be hinged? If it was free to move then once the car reached a certain speed the air would blow the number plate back and have full flow into the rad. This would have the added benefit of not being able to be flashed from forward facing speed cams

I don't think I am.

The mark 1 was quite a bit different and the end sat right behind the opening in the Mugen bumper causing the air to be forced directly into the mouth of the intake.

The opening on the mark 2 faces the wrong way to get any great deal of benefit from a cut in the bumper.

I think you are still wrong Mr M.

Version 1:

Version 1 was designed to take air directly from the grill opening. Version 2 is designed to take air from the air pressure within the grill area - Mugen then released the bumper with the opening for track use to take advantage of the ram air effect.

The opening for the mark 2 faces the wrong direction to get any benefit from ram air effect from a simple hole in the bumper.

The Mugen bumper must have had some way of re-directing the air to get any sort of ram air effect.

Thinking about it, a cut in the front of the air guide could possibly do this.
