You will do your car a big favour if you run it in correctly. Honda still put this info in the handbook.
Remember to keep a close eye on he oil during runing in period.
Some good long runs with variable throttle inputs (i.e. not motorway crusing) are the best and don't let the engine labour. Increase revs progressively as the engine beds in. Observe the no Vtec instructions during the early running in period.

I ran mine in for a 1000 miles not exceeding 5000rpm.
Then increased the rev limit by a thousand revs per hundred miles, so after 1400 miles was taking the engine to 9000rpm.
Now after 8500 miles the engine is getting better and better and has not used a drop of oil.

Should be fine, but vary your speed and go through the gearbox, again within the rev limit. Don't let it struggle in a gear.
The secret is not to keep the engine at a set rpm for a long distance.
The first 1000miles will not take long to cover.

I've never seen the point of this. I have only had one car brand new and I ragged it from the day I bought it till the day I traded it in. Never had a days trouble.

If you intend to keep the car for several years it is worth doing, as it's you who will benefit in the long term.

If the car is brand new the tyres will not be at their best until 200+ miles. The brakes will also need a bit of bedding in.
