New Cloth Roof Issues! Help needed please

Looking at the roof closer it does look as if the tension cables are too tight, can you adjust the tension is the cables??

I thought all the hoods were vinyl on the S?

Mine was fitted by a specialist, I don't think its an easy job for anyone including the specialists, I would have them do it if I were you and you are able to.

is the roof flush with the bar above the window, if not there will be lots of wind noise

As standard they are.

Some specialists will supply and fit a mohair one.

The issue here is that the OP installed it himself.

What is the benefit, if any of a mohair roof, do they wear better?

AFAIK mohair is a lot stronger than vinyl. It's not affected by the cold weather, like vinyl is, either.
The aftermarket ones from CHW have reinforcements where the factory-fit roof usually wears.
