Default New noises :/

After an impressive showing from the sun yesterday I thought I would take the S out to clear the cobwebs.
Haven't driven her for over 3 months (sorry)
battery was flat but luckily I had a jump pack so managed to get her started

When driving I heard a new rattle which was mostly noticeable when around 2-3k revs and when letting off the throttle
at first I thought it was a loose heat shield or something but could this be the famous TCT? are these the right symptoms?
also on idle it sounded a bit tappy/ticky, is this the same issue (TCT) or would this just be because I haven't driven it in a while?

Lastly, when going into vtec it seemed ever so slightly down on power, almost like it was misfiring every now and then.
it wasn't always smooth when I put my foot down, simple plug change perhaps? or are leads or coil packs known to go?

I will be giving her a full service myself in the next few weeks so want to get all the parts ready!

Thanks

Coil packs do go though my 2001 car is on originals, my 99 needed new.

best imported as expensive here

these engines are ticky, check the faq re TCT

maybe post up a vid?

fuel might not be ace after 3 months?

Mine too - the plug gaps were all well over-spec, which made it run rough.

So I got a CEL and pulling the codes I was seeing random and a consistent misfire.

Much sweeter with new packs & plugs.

Cannot help with the TCT; mine was clattering dangerously on start-up if left for a couple of weeks, once the oil fell out. Clearly the spring was too weak. A Ballade unit means it's fine now. But I never really had the usual timing chain iding clatter.

If your having issues When your getting into vtec you might want to replace the vtec solenoid gaskets. I've seen gaskets and crud cover the oil passages in the solenoid not allowing proper oil flow to engage vtec. Also post a vid on your noise. Good luck!

thanks for the comments
No issues with the vtec itself, runs fine 99% of the time just every now and then I feel a tiny drop in the acceleration for a split second like a slight misfire. the main problems im getting is low revs and idle, thats where the weird noises are most common.
I will try get a vid up for you

Stutter might just be old fuel and if you didn't store it with a full tank - some of that will be water. What you need is a louder exhaust / intake then you won't hear a thing.

(Took mine to work today - much fun)
