For servicing there is a sheet in the FAQ on here which shows you what needs doing when

I would go through what history you have against against that, then you can plan what needs doing when

Sorry what i was asking was if anyone has had an experience with sending their car in to cardiff honda for service work. Or if they would recommend a different honda(eg. Swansea) or a specialist.

also would like to get my car professional detailed rather than just cleaned by a man in a van

Try in pistonheads for detailing

Servicing you are better off taking the tasks in house (ie deciding what needs doing) and getting a specialist to do it than a Honda dealer imo. They don't see many S2s these days

Agree about Honda servicing. I'd go to a specialist. Although Honda Winchester did help me removed the security bolts from the ECU when I struggled which was fair play.

Hi,

Probably a bit of a trek for you being on the 'wrong' side of the bridge, but I take mine to Howards Honda in Weston-super-Mare. They've always been refreshingly honest with me and always done a decent job. As said above, its only worth going to a dealer if you value the Honda stamp in your book.

Hope this helps.

Or if you have an extended warranty (probably not in this case).

Having said that, my local dealer (nowhere near Wales) does a reasonable job at a reasonable price (MOT is included in servicing, for example). I get them to additional stuff to the oil change as required.

Hi Brailer,

I've used Honda Cardiff a few times. They do say that they have an mechanic that is knowledgeable of the S2000. Saying that, anything you request doing will be done as per Honda manual. No shortcuts, i.e when I asked about changing the TCT they said it would be about 3 hours labour, can't quite remember the reasoning why, probably bdue to stripping, resetting and other stuff. Looking at how it can be done, it takes about 30 minutes tops and that was me doing it myself.

I've never had any issues with them, you can take your own parts as long as they are OEM (other than oil) They won't fit anything else. I've not found a specialist in South Wales. So I've travelled far and wide. From Kent, to Barnsley and most recently to see Ray and Daytona Autos just above Birmingham. Ray is great. My type of mechanic. Does mind you taking an interest, explains what he's doing and more than happy to answer any questions aside for that he's a top bloke too. Extremely knowledgable of the S2000 due to owning a couple along with racing one. He's a busy man so you might need to wait for a slot but it's worth it, just for piece of mind. I'll be going back there for any work I need doing providing my car is drivable.

So what I'm saying is that if you love driving the S2000, which you should do as it's one of the reasons that you bought it, have a look further than the local area. Drive it to somewhere where they know exactly what they're doing. For me when I take my car to the garage it's not just about getting the job done, if you've got the time it's about learning a little and seeing the mechanic in action.

As for full detailing, I do it all myself as I find it very satisfying bring the car back from the dead once a year so never looked into if there are any around the South Wales area. Though I do remember when I first got my S2000 that I looking into detailing and Lee from Xd (Extreme Detailing) was very well thought of. I'm pretty sure I remembered seeing that he would travel, though again for a excellent job it's worth travelling for. You can find his details on the S2K owners club website, which you should join if you haven't already.

Yours is Bushey Honda isn't it? I've not used them yet as my previous dealings with some other Honda dealerships wasn't very positive. Stuck to either Tom at TGM or Phil at Dream (also in Bushey).

On a side note, I've spotted the NSX in there a couple of times, not ventured in to test it yet though.
