Hello all, even though I had to sell my S a few years ago I still login here to see what is happening in the community, I'm biding my time until I can get back in one, but in the meantime I saw this news article on Autocar this morning.

Honda is preparing a dramatic return to sports cars with a small mid-engined, rear-drive successor to the Honda S2000 - and it's likely to be a hybrid.

The car is believed to be a cross between the S2000 roadster, phased out last year, and the original Honda Beat mini-car of 1991. Engineers are said to be working on the car at Honda's R&D centre at Tochigi, north of Tokyo....

This concept car was at the last London motor show. I started chatting to one of the marketing bods at Honda, who at the time hinted that Honda were looking to make their cars greener.

I hope they do good, a hybrid sports car...what ever next!

The initial rendering is ok, looks a bit tall for a sports car, its lost the low slung roadster look..

Chortle - the CR-Z is sporty now? I suppose compared to the rest of the range drudgery it is.

I wonder how much they'll try and charge for it

hybrids are generally quite heavy arent they? i think everyone should be building elises with better engines

If the prices of the CR-Z are anything to go buy... £25k for a top of the range sporty hybrid

I guess it depends on what sort of hybrid it is.
If they chucked an electric motor in there it would be impressive.

There's a few electric sportscars around and they have unbelievable acceleration.
An electric battery powered sportscar, with a petrol generator to recharge the battery when needed.

That would get some attention I think.

The CR-Z is actually quite light, by modern standards, at 1,198kg.

A comparable 1.4TFSI Scirocco is 1,271kg. The Diesel is 1,379kg.

Price-wise, the Scirocco starts at £18,860 for the TFSI, and £21,355 for the diesel.

CR-Zs are £17,000 to £19,000

very few CR-Z's will be sold for £17,000. Spec them up just a little and they are likely to cost a lot more!

That's what a I loved about my S, i went in, saw it, said, yes please and got it.

The car has leather seats, alloy wheels, A/C bla bla bla....i had nothing from the options list and still have a 'fully spec'd' car as far as i am concerned!

Read the article on Autocar, don't think it is aimed at the former S market. Hey ho, at least Porsche are still building proper sports cars.
