New UK Community Organiser Appointment
Election now up:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...&f=25&t=422518
Following the growth of the UK forums, the increasing volumes of posts and following recent discussions, we have decided to add another CO to the team for the UK forums.
Below I have set out the basis of what a CO is defined as, and their responsibilities - this is based on something HondaGal wrote to all CO's a while back.
The community organiser is an essential part of the S2Ki community. With out you, the number of Regional Communities we have would not exist.
The Community Organiser is not a moderator. We prefer not to associate the word "moderator" with Community Organiser. When occupying this role you do have moderator priviledges, only for the reason of keeping the peace within your organisation, and keeping unauthorized advertisers out.
S2Ki Admins do not appoint Community Organisers. We want your peers to nominate you. You are the lead people within your local community. You are respected by your fellow members. All regional community forums, were requested by people in that area. Admins will only step in if really necessary or if asked specifically for help
The role of a Community Organiser is:
This definition defines almost what S2KUK does, with additional forum responsibilities. This is where the UK differs slightly, being a national community rather than regional USA community. The 'club' was established 2 years ago to deliver things like funding for events, dealer and supplier discounts and to be recognised by Honda etc.
Therefore the CO responsibility on the UK forum is more of a moderator role, but is still called a CO. This is also due to the sub forums, the high volume of posts, and users in the UK.
CO Moderating Responsibilities can be split down as follows:
Those who have been consistently moderated in the past, or have breached rules will be considered inappropriate for the role.
If you are interested in putting yourself forward for the position of CO for the UK, please PM me (and CC Lurking Lawyer) before 8th September. You will need to include the forum names of a proposer and seconder, (also paid s2ki members) and a short note as to why you think you'd be suitable and what you hope to contribute as a CO
The process will then be to take a public vote on the forums between those who have put themselves forward. The process will be transparent and open. This is a site wide process that has been followed historically.

The role of a Community Organiser is:
- Developing the Community
- Maintain the membership list
- Contact potential members you see on the street and online (build the community)
- Develop relations with local sponsors and dealerships
- Take the lead in organising local or community events
- If you are a large community or small, there is nothing written in stone that you can not have help. A Co-Community organiser can help with tasks, and event planning. It is better to ask for help than try and do everything yourself.
- As a CO you should be dedicated to the community and the S2000.
- You will have a sense of accomplishment by organising events and having your club membership flourish.

CO Moderating Responsibilities can be split down as follows:
- Keeping Sticky threads updated
- Bringing useful articles to the relevant persons attention (eg for FAQ)
- Welcoming new users and basic user support
- Encouraging s2ki membership
- Moving threads to relevant forums
- Sweeping Introductions forum for new UK users
- Sweeping Site info to keep up to date with Site info
- Participation in CO Forum to keep up to date with anything required
- Moderating posts and threads in relevant forums
- Appreciate the relationship between s2ki and s2kuk
- Responding to reported posts
Those who have been consistently moderated in the past, or have breached rules will be considered inappropriate for the role.
