NEW UK Users Say Hello Here!
Hello All,
New to the forum (but have sneaked a peek or two before) but not new to the car.
I've had my Silverstone/Black 2000 S2000 since 2003 and all I've done with it since is drive it, give it a wash and a polish (occassionally), get it serviced and MOTd by Honda, fill it with appropriate liquids, and drive it a lot more. The poor old thing is getting a little tired, is in need of some TLC, but has never let me down.
However, when "one" notices that one's back is a bit stiff after a longish drive and getting in and out starts to become a bit or a chore (and not so elegant) - it's time to reassess one's needs in the wheels department.
The old S2 had to go and the options (given the the other half has a big say and we still wanted a rag top) seemed to come down to all sorts of pretty ugly chopped about saloons with hoods. Don't laugh but we'd settled on a nice Saab 9-3 Aero and were just about to arrange some test drives when...
...the rear screen cracked on the S2 one early cold morning a couple of Saturday's ago (note, mid English summer!) when I tilted the hood half way to drain the water out of the door seals. What to do? What to do?
The following Tuesday morning, after a bit of Interweb browsing, I found the Car Hood Warehouse doing complete hoods with glass rear windows for under a grand. I'd expected 2-3 grand so I was (reasonably) happy. I was even happier when I phoned CHW and they said they could fit it in that day if I could get there by 11 - it was already 10:15. Ricky to Chessington in 45 mins? No probs. By 3pm I had a brand new hood that completely transformed the car's looks. Within 10 mins of driving off I realised that wind noise was significantly lower and I could hear the other half speaking.
The day after the new roof was fitted we when off to Devon for the rest of the week. By the time we were back home, having done a lot of motorway miles and even more over Dartmoor, the Saab 9-3 was a distant sad memory. To coin a phrase, I feel like a born again S2000 owner.
I need to get the corroded wheels refurbished (I think The Wheel Specialist) and I'm sure the suspension will fail MOT this time after a close call last year so will try to get all the bushes done as a one off job (any volunteers/recommendations?). Then there's all the little knocks and scratches, and the replacement door seals, and, and...
As I've decided to keep it until I don't have to pay road tax on it any more and wont be spending

Howdy one and all.
Newly purchased S2K, 06 model in Guernsey in Berlina Black.
I ALWAYS wanted one, ever since buying my first Honda and seeing one drive past, finally chalked up the cash a month ago and am thoroughly loving it
Now for the downside, Professional valet has washed my car.....obviously dropped the sponge and proceeded to clean the entire car. Im ABSOLUTELY gutted....my poor baby was scratchless! Have tried cleaning / polishing / compounding (professionally too) all with no luck, the scratchs are too deep to repair that way!
Still on the brighter side, the valet has agreed to pay the damages (even tho that now means a respray of the entire car). Do i go for black again? or possibly deep blue (not the moonrock one, but ive forgotten the name of the other blue)
watcha think?

Hello people, another noob here. Been hankering after an S2K for about 2 years now but with relocation/job changes/student debt/general skintness I've had to make do with my Clio 172. I'm finally in a position to get an S2K and have been poreing through this forum and the adverts on pistonheads/autotrader. My budget is around
Worn Roof elastics (Cheap and easy fix though)
Wear on the roof, around shoulder height.
Timing Chain Tensioner noise.
Clicking from rear hub nuts.
The only prodominant ones I can think of atm.
Info about them all in the Technical FAQ though.

And welcome
Mine came much the same way, watched the same bloke at the dealership with a bucket of cold water, a wash leather and a squedgee blade ..... 40 cars on that lot all covered with sand / dust / water etc etc. Seen an 09 one in as bad a state last night - i really don't know how some dealers can claim to be 'valeting' when in reality they must have a team armed with brillopads!
