Your key is coded but I believe you can just use a blank key on the same keyring and it'll work.
Possibly.
Pain in the ass that.

You can get another barrel of a scrapper - if it has the key.
An auto locksmith ought to be able to clone your existing key code to a new key and as I said, bolt on the old transducer module.
You might want to nick the door and boot locks too, to avoid buggeration with two keys.

Or to save ALL the expense, ditch the old HP alarm and get a new one that includes remote start?

Is the HP alarm related? That's all on the fob isn't it?

I presume you mean lock assembly as the barrel is the part that fits inside the lock that the key operates, if you use the key etc that you bought then it will have to be coded to your system, to avoid this swap over the barrel with your own then you retain your original key and code (provided yours are ok, from the pic it just looks like the lock has snapped,

But driving it to the garage to replace the unit (saved some money getting a truck out) there was another issue. The steering wheel was at a 90 degree angle to the direction of travel.
Turns out that the steering rack's thread had completely sheered off and needed replacing.
Seeing as Honda Europe don't make the part anymore, it was either import from Honda Japan at a cost of £1,000+ shipping and duty, or get a second hand one. Opted for the later at just above £100.
Picking the car up this week, had the bushes done at the same time, was looking forward to driving again after 6 weeks, but the weather may play a part in that!
