Hi everyone, just a quick one, I'm doing an oil change and there's a bit of yellowing and goo in the oil cap, I've added a photo, is this normal? It's only in the base of the cap. Thanks

That's coolant in the oil unless I'm mistaken, time for a new head gasket? although it doesn't look like a lot, you could keep an eye on it weekly and see if it comes back.

That's what I was worried about, I'll wipe it away, any idea how long it would take to come back? Thanks

Check any crankcase breathers are clean and all levels are on the mark, then run it a bit checking the levels and oil cap looking a change, do you a lot of short journeys where it doesn’t get hot? That can contribute yahoo.

Hi, I do a fair few shorts journeys, I drive to work which is only about 2 miles away and it gets to temperature just before I get to work, other journeys are about 10-15 miles regularly but it does get some long journeys to, I have another car and the s2000 is normally driven every other day so I didn't know if it was just a bit of condensation built up or not, i appreciate the help guys

if your not loosing water or overheating then i wouldn't worry it's more than likely fairy oil

I'm not losing water or overheating, I think I topped up the coolant a tiny amount a few months ago and it has stayed the same level so hopefully it's just condensation and nothing to worry about, just finished my oil change and despite the oil being black it looked very clean

Looks like condensation - HGF is usually a lot more mayonnaise than that.

PS - it's not pleasant on salads/chips etc. It's too bitter.

Looks like condensation to me. If its been sitting for a while and its seen a few temperature swings then that can cause it. Mine had it when it was in a garage for a few weeks - would be freezing at night then the space heaters were fired up during the day and it just built up, almost exactly like your pic. Only ever had it once, no problems since and that was about 8 years ago
