OBD Diagnostics?

Has anyone ventured into using the OBD port to obtain real time information from the car?

I have the software for both PC and Pocket PC, now I am looking at purchsing a bluetooth OBD connector that will send me real time info to my PC/Phone.

Any experiences? Any advice?

Thanks.

Keep on VTECing.

I work in the industry mate. If you want some help undersatnding what comes out let me know.

Didn't know you can get bluetooth transmitters like that though. Where do you get them from ? And what software are you using?

i've got access to the honda tester (that the dealers would use) and on the s2000 engine side of things, live data is a bit lacking (compared to some engine systems on other cars). what exactly are you interested in knowing - the usual essentials?

nomadicS2k 10-19-2007 07:07 AM

Yeh, the useful essentials, temperatures, pressures, voltage etc. Basically, just actually having a display so I know whats going on.

Software wise - obd gauge

and OBDKey

What can I say, G-E-E-K!

Geek or dweeb folks, you decide.

Looks good to me mate. Can I get that to run on a nokia n95?

nomadicS2k 10-19-2007 11:05 AM

The nokia N95 cant run it....its windows and palm only. Nokias now use the symbian OS which is just painful!

bscott 10-19-2007 11:34 AM

I've got as Ipaq in a drawer somewhere, I think that's got windows. Perhaps that might run it?

I have to ask, why do you want to know?

Its really meaningless unless you have a problem, as the ECU is taking care of things.

I did a lot of datalogging using a unit (link in my supercharger thread) but that was because I was putting a supercharger on there.

You then have to think would you know what the info meant.

Without the right software all you will get is 0-5 volt signals - and unless you have the sensor scaling you won't know what it means.

You can get a Blizt R Vit or G Reddy inofmeter which shows you real time data.
