I have the OEM Cooler, Sandwich plate and then a smaller oil filter and an oil filter stopper.

Its tight but its better than relocating the oil filter in my opinion. Only downside is that the filter will spend more time bypassing the oil through and because of the smaller element it will get contaminated quicker.

Here is what i done

Do you know how much different that small filter is to a HAMP stubby? I've always run the stubby on my car anyway.

Just wondering what the benefit of running both the OEM cooler and an uprated cooler would be. The extra space wouldn't go a miss & or it could be swapped out for a sandwich plate that i could run temp and pressure sensors to.

I think even the stubby filters will be too big. I know i look at the dimension of the OC467 and the HKS stubby and the HKS was still alot larger.

Benefits of the OEM cooler is that it also heats the oil up preventing less wear on the engine during startup. It will also stop the oil from getting overly cooled by the oil cooler if that becomes an issue.

Do you have a link to where you buy these extra small filters from?

I didnt find the need for a smaller filter, sure it fouls on the rubber joint of the intercooler piping but its 5 seconds to unbolt the 3 ally head bolts and loosen the pipe...

Are you using a Honda filter? MArks pictures shows his short filter touching the intercooler pipe.

There is about 10mm clearance with the shorter oil filter. I dont want to risk the filter rubbing against the intercooler pipework and making a hole in the oil filter. You can buy the shorter filter from most car spare places part number OC467

I recommend an oil filter stopper just for peace of mind. Mines been on since November and ive had no leaks or issues.

How did you determine that the small Mahle OC467 was a suitable filter?
It seems to have a considerably higher opening pressure than the Mahle OEM filter equivalent (1.6 vs 1.0 not sure about the unit but most probably bar).
For reference the OEM PCX filter bypass is only set at 0.55-0.75 bar and the filter is almost twice the size.
I would be more worried about oil starvation than rubbing intercooler pipes.

In reality even at high revs the OEM filter will be bypassing more oil than it is filtering. My oil pressures have not changed one bit since fitting the smaller filter. I posted that at the time that the smaller filter will spend more of its time bypassing than a stock item but i would rather that then add aload of more oil lines and an oil filter relocation kit. You are just adding more places to leak into the system.

My main concern was whether the bypass on the smaller filter would be big enough to flow the amount of oil the pumps pushing through it but its been fine.

When i had OEM filter, AN10 lines and a Laminova Cooler i would see at most maybe 75psi during Vtec. With Drilled sandwich plate, AN8 lines, smaller filter and a cheap 19 row cooler i now see 80psi+ during vtec.

I'm not saying everyone has to do it but i've had mine like that for 8 months now with no issues and my car is driven hard. The obvious downside is that oil will spend alot of time bypassing but when it does bypass some oil still goes through the filtration medium. Its a none issue for me because i change the oil every 3000 miles.

I would be alot more concerned about people bolting oil coolers on that can only flow 30lpm and forcing every bit of engine oil through that cooler when the pumps flowing 60lpm at 6000rpm. That is a hell of alot more of a restriction than a smaller oil filter.

Yes oil flow should be top priority, but if you are seeing higher pressure now doesn't that mean flow would be less?
