56 Plate 75K - straight pass no advisories - with a comment from the tester about how tidy the car was.

I'm 4 years in doing about 3500/4000 miles a year and loving it.. long may it continue.

i have time so did a pre MOT and found my headlight washer pump was fubar

i stripped it as per Andy's great thread here

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/uk-irela...x-diy-1176180/

mine had rusted inside and so i cleaned it with a dremel both the magnets on the motor and inside the housing, squirted in some ACF50

and it passed.. whether they were tested i dunno

ordered a new pump, 19 squid off ebay

the downside is i did 400 miles in the last year in this one

My 05 on 74k failed on handbrake cable tension...I’ve replaced both the cables but found a fubar lower trailing arm bush. Superb.

I've got the ball joint off the hub and undone the nut but the bolt head has welded itself to the subframe mount...not quite sure how I’m going to get it off

Advice appreciated

I had similar problems last year getting a set of three chassis braces off the wife's MX5.
Solved through a combination of....
1. Soaking in WD40
2. 3 foot breaker bar
3. Manual impact driver and a big hammer
4. Powered impact driver
5. Grinder
6. Lots of swearing

Good luck.

Thank you...exhausted all of those already; think I’ll buy some rust eater and try that over a few days.

Mot soon, but got unexpected time to prepare, 4 wheel alignment checked last week and it looked ok underneath, will poke and prod around anything else and maybe check brake pipes/hoses a bit closer when brakes are stripped and cleaned.

March 2020

Passed a few weeks ago with no advisories
@ 94,596 miles
All clear for another year, although it seems it wont be driven anywhere for the time being under the current world situation.

Stay safe and healthy guys!
