Yes cause only mechanics know how to do an oil filter change ?

Make sure you tighten it up properly when you fit the new one, hand tight isn't enough and you don't want it rattling off.

if you do screwdriver it mak sure you dont damage the thread or sealing face of the filter.

Good luck
No not at all, of course its a very simple job, but having seen the results of amatuer work many times before, sometimes what seems a simple job can cause very serious problems. eg; mixing some oils can cause coagulation of oil feed pipes and seized engines, actually seen this three times ! overfilled oil because people actually think that filling it means "Filling it", Yes actually seen that too ! filters coming off whilst driving because not fitted properly etc etc .....
Maybe boring but sometimes experience is worth something ? and in the long run could actually save you all the money you thought you had saved doing it yourself.

Again thanks for everyones help. Next the brakes Might take that one to the pro's and assist in the change.
FWIW, changing the pads & discs is probably easier than an oil change.

EVEN *I* can do pads. Not done discs though, as long as the screw comes out it should be straight forward.

Rob, check the How To threads in the Under The Hood Forum

Everyones got to start somewhere, theres only one way to gain experience and it's not by paying someone else to do it.

I've never had a mEchanic touch my car since brand new, all work is done by myself to a lot higher standard than Honda.

Goodluck Rob i'm sure you'll sort it

Rick

Glad to hear you got it sorted in the end.

Question for those in the know. If you do an oil change should you always change the oil filter?
