Default Oil Level Low

Hi

Just checked the oil on my S2k for the first time, and while its not on entirely level ground, the oil level is just about on the L mark.

Now as ive only had the car a few weeks, im not sure what oil was put in there previously.

It was serviced at Honda about 7k miles ago.

Ideally id like to nip out in the next few hours to buy some? Would halfords sell any acceptable oils to put in the S? Is it ok to mix it?

Thanks
James

Oh dear - and you a 5 year 338 day member too! You should know better!

I know the search tool isn't brilliant, but it DOES work. There are loads and loads of threads about oil out there, and there's no universally-agreed "right" answer. You need to do some reading....

It's fine to mix oils.

Any 10w40 will do the job.
Other people prefer 3w40, 10w30, 0w30 or anything like that.
In fact I think the manual says 5w??
*shrug*

Just buy whetevers on special offer and has a nice long neck to pour the oil into the trickily placed hole.

I've used:
Shell Helix Plus 10W40 http://www.shell.co.uk/home/content/gbr/pr...sic/helix_plus/
Castrol GTX Magnatex 10W40 http://www.castrol.com/castrol/productdeta...ntentId=7027375

and have got some of this for the next change http://www.castrol.com/castrol/productdeta...ntentId=7027069

The Castrol are available from Halfords, and you get a nice screwdriver set with the Edge http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165581

Where to get the Shell is obvious enough
