Oily boot
#11
I'm glad I'm not the only one that's had this happen.
Mine was in the centre, so it mostly went into the tool tray. I just mopped it up the best I could, and took out the tool tray cover bit and used some washing up liquid on it. Seemed to be okay.
I discovered all this at 6am as I was leaving for the Channel Tunnel. By the time I'd mopped up the oil I was late, and then got done for speeding on the M20 trying to make up time (and still missed the crossing). So don't do that.

I managed to do a bottle of beer in the boot of the NSX.
In spite of that being water-based, it still smells like a brewery in there some days. The matting is very thick, in order to control the heat & stop your luggage going deaf.

You need the most absorbant material you can get your hands on....disposable nappies like Pampers (other brands are available) lay them on the spill absorbant side down. Once you have removed all the liquid you can use a strong detergent like Swarfega hand cleaner to get the rest out. Fairy liquid is OK but swarfega has other solvents which help breakdown the oil.
You can finish off with a upholstery or carpet shampoo to leave a fresher smell.
