Having owned a '52 reg S2k and now owning a '57 reg one I have never experienced the throttle lag which you seem to have.
However it does feel 'softer' which I expected, and the VSA has saved me a few embarrassing (and expensive!) moments.
Must agree though the seats in the newer one are CR*P, especially for a 6 footer!.... and don't mention the road tax
Suggest getting it checked out
