Paintit UK/Billericay
I'm a bit lost for words to be honest.
I used these guys a couple of winters ago to fully diamond cut re-furb my wheels and their work was excellent, and dealt with the manager.
I managed to curb one of my alloys at the end of the summer, so as the car's off the road now for the winter; dropped the wheel off there a couple of weeks ago.
The boss was away at the time so one of the guys asked me what I'd paid before. It was around £90 if I recall. Anyhow I don't know why he asked this, as as soon as I told the previous price he advised the cost would be £95 all in. All good so far and I left the wheel with them.
Got a call a week or so ago that the wheel was ready, and dropped in to find to my dissappoint that they'd laquered over some foreign object and this was clearly visible. I then proceeded to spend about 10 minutes or so politely pointing out that this wasn't acceptable, particularly due to the cost and I'd like the wheel re-done. I listened to a list of excuses, but the guy agreed to re-do the wheel.
I picked up the wheel earlier today to find that they'd done a perfect job; great. The tyre wasn't on the wheel as originally I'd planned on supplying them with a new one. Anyhow; I've not had time to source one so asked them to re-fit the tyre and balance. I was then given some excuse that they couldn't guaranteed that the wheel wouldn't get damaged !!.
So the tyre goes back on; no problem.
I go to pay; 'the bill will be £120.00 please'. So I explain to the guy I was quoted £95 a couple of weeks ago ? 'Don't know where you got that price from' it's £120' was the answer. There's then a long drawn out argument (I'm not going to lose sleep over £25, but that not the point), so I ask to see the manager (the guy by the way who dealt with the wheels on my first visit who was extremely helpful/etc/etc).
I manager was on site so I spoke to him; a couple of years later what a difference. He wasn't in the slightest bit interested and claimed I'd made up the original price !! I flippantly advised him that if he liked we could line up his staff, and I'd point the guy out to him if he liked. By this time the discussion was getting silly and pointless so I paid up and left.
Suffice to say that their standard of work now appears to be very patchy, and their customer service non-existent. Shame really as I have no intention of using them again.
Sorry for the rambling thread; but once you get writing it's difficult not to end up telling the whole story.
Hopefully other's who have used them recently may have had a more positive experience.
By the way; if anyone is planning on using Skid Marques/Hutton (wheel/suspension alignment/etc), they are no longer trading at that address. I did a search but couldn't find them anywhere.
