Plastic Rear Window

So opening the roof last night, having put the hardtop away on Sunday, the window got a bit of a kink in it. Stopped and got out to straighten it, pushed and it split :-(

It wasn't THAT cold, so I guess it's just bad luck and one of those things.

This is already my second roof, got a good condition one from ebay about 3 years back and sold on the one with the tears...

Given that this one already has a small tear in the usual place on the passenger side, should I
1. try to source just a new window
2. look out for another 'lightly used' roof with a plastic window
3. look out for a later roof with a glass window
4. get the fabric and window replaced by an aftermarket company

How hard/advisable is it to replace just the window?

1 or 4 if it was me.

Option 1 would involve a sheet of clear plastic, a Stanley knife and some sealant and rivets to just hack the old window out and get a new sheet in place.
I have the top down most the time so it would just be a weatherproofing effort for me.

Option 4 would be a whole new roof with glass screen.
This would cost around £700 I think.

If your new roof is wearing on the shoulders it's worth looking for the links on the lizard skins to put over he sharp sections of the roof frame to stop this happening.

I think someone had a garage do a repair recently for around £180 for a new plastic screen.

Thanks guys

So does anyone know if the window is available as a separate part?

It is, cost around £50 .... but that was a few years back.

Fitting it (properly) requires half the roof to be removed from the frame.

Try the S2KUK site there's a list of suppliers there at least two do a replacement plastic screen.
