I'd go for the VX220 Turbo.
I know it's impractical but reports are that it's just so good you've got to have one. Car rated it above the Evo 300FQ, 360 Challenge Stradale, 911 Gt3, 350Z and Z4 3.0 in their performance car of the year.
Plus you can probably get such a deal on it due to badge snobbery that you can hire a van when you need practicallity

Yeah, I think the same about reliability with TVR, a TVR would have the highs, but I'm more worried about the lows and not getting home when I set off on a drive
The new Interga Type R is a great idea, very rare and quick for the money, it's only the FWD part that puts me off. worth a look imo

upside Stunning looks bags of performance (0-60 in around 5 seconds 370bhp) tons of torque, fairly practical, excellent road manners and good handling, one of the best Autoboxes on the market today
down side: back seats for midgets, expensive to service, 20 mpg, 100mph at 3000 revs (very easy to speed in)
True Jaguar though
(words that don't belong in a Jaguar Brochure...Manual Transmission, Diesel, Estate, Front wheel drive) i.e. X type (good car for an uppity ford, Not a Jag IMO

OK heres one from left-field.....
The Holden/Vauxhall Monaro - under 30k, V8, RWD and an icon in Oz. Absolute hoot to drive I'm told, M5 performance for under 30k new.
It's coming out very shortly and if I were to swap the S2000 for anything it would be at the top of my shortlist, the cars you have listed don't light my fire for one reason or another (apart from the VX, but that's not practical) but the thought of a thundering great V8 in a saloon car, very tunable if you need more power/performance/handling is appealing.
To me, this is like a tin-top TVR, but proven (they've been out for a few years in Oz and use a Yank engine) and with lots of dealers around (admittedly not very good, but there must be some good ones around).
