Default Possible new buyer...

Well I've made my second mistake.

I've test driven the S2000, that was mistake number one, now I've joined the UK S2k board...mistake number two!

I've scoured here looking for information and I am still seriously unsure about the purchase. It is a joy to drive, and look at, although I still love the looks of my current car.

I've got an MR2 MKII GT T-Bar, bought just 6 months old and a move from a 1.6GL Escort! I still love it, the size, the feel, the curves and looks from the front. Even now, despite the current reputation for them being more common on the roads and owned by a...ermmm...younger crowd shall I say.

Anyway, I've been looking at a number of cars, the S2000 in particular. I'd seen it quite some time ago and thought it was very nice. Not attracted by the line "the fastest non-turbo production sports car in the world"...don't ask, I can't remember where I heard that.

So the main concern for me is the running cost. I know the S2000 has 3 service types, and the local Honda dealer has told me the cost of these, which is slightly higher than the MR2.

Can someone, who goes to a Honda garage for their services, tell me the costs of the three services in their experience. Hearing them in and out of warranty would be interesting.

I'm also concerned about the move from a T-Bar (which I love) to a fully convertible roof. Safety, security, warmth, etc. Anyone have views on that one?

There's also great talk of tyre costs, but then I can replace my entire MR2 set for around the

The only bad aspect of ordering an S is the misery of waiting for it to be delivered........

Welcome Richard.

Nice to see another person from a civilised part of the country

Last weekend a few of us met up at Kirkardine Bridge and spent the day driving around some of the best roads that I have ever encountered.

You can check out the post meet thread: SM2 Thread

This is the sort of thing that makes the S2000 such a great car to own and drive and for that reason I couldn't really care what it costs to run.

Cheers for that guys. So far so good.

Servicing - If I buy new or just new, I like the idea of keeping an FSH and with an approved manufacturers garage, and since Honda are saying three service types I'm keen to find out the costs in and out of warranty.

Ah, cool StevenM. Some superb pics there, looks like it was a nice day out for all.

Damn, there's so many blue cars! That's my fav colour...most of my cars, including the MR2 now, are blue. Although no one with the new light blue colour...I forget the poncy name for it...

...wait...

...hold it...

...Yeh! Opening of the brochure reveals. Nurburgring Blue Metallic with similar interior. Oooh.

Surprising how good the yellow looks there. Anyone actually have a Lime Green or Imola Orange Pearl?

The dark blue (Monte Carlo Pearl) or silver (Silverstone Metallic) are very nice too though. Damn...I'm seriously talking about this!

RichardB,

You will find a lot of people on this forum trying to con you into thinking that their colour is faster.
They are all lying....
