Potentially stupid question about air filter...
It's been a while since the air filter on my HKS Racing Suction Kit's been replaced, mainly because the Honda dealer won't touch it. Thing is, I've got the replacement filter and actually fitting it itself is about as simple as you can get. But, it's one the HKS filters that requires being coated in oil first. Some of them don't apparently but the one for mine definitely does.
What I'd like to know is if anybody knows if there's special stuff you have to use and how to do it? That's why I said it could be a potentially stupid question as it's probably something very simple to do! I've searched around on the internet for ages but not really come up with anything so any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers - Chris

Just remove it, and stick a pair of old tights over it - same level of filtration as the HKS
Try Sumo Power, they are HKS main agents

Thanks for the help though. I was planning on going to halfords anyway to get a couple of bits and pieces. I'd rather not spend too much money in that place though.

Is it a foam one?
If so, you don't need any filter oil unless you plan on running in a cement factory.
Filter oil traps the ultra fine particulates from being ingested by the engine.
I used it on a RAM Air filter I bought a good while back. It didn't do anything really.
Just get a bucket of hoat soapy water and adgitate the filter vigorously within the water.
Leave to dry (or do with Mrs' Hairdryer )
Refit

There are two types of filter element available; 2 layer which is oiled, and a three layer which is dry.
The 3 layer dry ones are not designed to be oiled. 2 layer come pre oiled.
Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the help. Just phoned sumopower and they confirmed that the 2 layer ones don't need any additional oil on them so that'll be a piece of cake to do.
