Power sticking in 1st

Hi,

Over the last week I have noticed odd occasions, usually during rush hour when I've been queuing for a large roundabout, I finally get on the roundabout, give it a good squeeze in 1st but round about maybe 4-5000 rpm, the car stops accelerating for a few seconds then it seems to clear itself and continues on.

It feels like it's choking or as though Im waiting for the turbo to kick in [yes I know theres no turbo on my S]{none technical diagnosis there}, although there is no particular noise.

I can't be sure if its on the point of vtec engagement or not since its an intermittent problem and Im usually looking at the road in rushhour traffic rather than the revometer.

Other times its completely fine.

And I don't think Ive noticed it in any other gears.

It seems more likely to happen if Im progressive with the accelerator, when I floor it it never happens [so far].

Anyone have any suggestions what might be causing it please ?

I'm not treating it as serious for the mo, its just a niggle I hope.

Many Thanks :ponder:

Crap petrol, dodgy map sensor, very low oil, dirty/faulty injectors, squirrels in your air box?.

I'd disconnect the battery and tap the map as a starter.

Sounds like your MAP sensor.

Unplug the lead...unscrew the 2 holding screws and take it off. Give it both a clean (by blowing into it) and a tap with a screwdriver handle (plastic or rubber).

If thats what it is, this will cure it.

See the link in my thread below.

Its generally heat soak or MAP related.

Thanks, Ill check out the MAP sensor tonight.
I'm not an engine person but I can tap something with a hammer.
I always use 98 octane but it could still be dodgy I guess, and the oil was checked last week.
:-)
