PRM musings

It's been a few weeks now since my PRM CAI was installed and I thought I'd share my experiences to see if others were having the same.

The pre VTEC sound seems to have become even deeper and throatier since installation and is particularly distinctive when heard from 100 yds or so away

On the downside my petrol consumption has definately gone up :thumbdn: because I am accelerating more quickly than I used to because I love that sound so much :D and I am finding that I have to tighten the clips up every week as they seem to be working loose

Anybody else noticed this

Hi Kelvin,

I think most folks have found their fuel consumption dip after fitting the PRM - this has been attributed to a heavier right foot and/or the ECU adapting to an altered air flow. I suspect it is probably a combination of both.

My consumption went down to 230-240 miles per tank, but recently (some months after fitting the PRM:confused: ) it has returned to my previous norm of 260-270. Heavens knows why, but I'm not complaining.

Sa for the clips loosening, no, I havent noticed this - I checked regularly for the 1st couple of weeks, but other than a couple of gently tighten ups all has stayed secure. You should have a stern word with the guy who fitted it!

My clips needed a little tightening a week after - musta bedded in - but since it is ok, i dont pay attention to fuel consumption, but i too love the noise, the only little annoyance is the slight whistle at 4-5k revs accelerating slightly - anyone else got this/know how to get rid?

It is quite a well know side effect of removing the airbox lid / fitting some CAI's.

It is just air making its happy little way through the intake and the filter on route to the engine.

Nothing to fret about:)

not worried, just annoyed - i found the solution though - accelerate harder :D
