Default New Track Project!

Hello people!

Hope I can get some help on a potential track project

I'm pretty much set on getting an S2000 and turning it into a track car, but still road legal. Looking at a face-lift 2004 ish or a tad newer, and wanted to know a few questions.

I see the bushes in the rear seem to be an issue, but is this on all ages, obviously they all wear, but were different years better?

Planning on removing the soft top, and just running a hard top, and remove for track. Any downsides in doing this? Does the hardtop locate in any part associated with the soft top?

What weight can they get down to? Hoping for around 1000kg if possible.

Any known weak points on track? Obviously will be doing coilovers, roll bars (if it needs them), brakes etc etc. And a full cage and decent seats.

Obviously don't plan on selling, so won't be rushing, just do bits and enjoy the development.

Thanks

Have a look at the thread below, not sure you'd get to a clean ton without money being spent.

I'm not sure a cage is really worth it unless you are competing.

Will have a read through, cheers for that.

Only thing with the new MOT laws, then having no airbags etc, you are supposed to have a cage and harnesses, so more race car than track car. So will have to go the whole lot, but need to find out how hard they will enforce it.

Either way, want to get as much as possible out of the car, but retain certain things, as I would drive to track.
