Radio door surround
I know this has been discussed before and I have used the search but can find little info, probably because this should be fairly simple.
I want to fit a replacement radio door to my MY02 and I need to remove the trim that it is attached to, I have made a hook and inserted it into the top corner of one side of the vents. I have pulled and pulled untill I had to stop for fear of breaking the damned thing.
I can see where the clips are located on the workshop diagram but I would like to know if it really should be this tight? Any tricks or tips would be appreciated please.

All I did was open the radio door cover, remove the small plastic trim around the radio itself and then pull off the main trim which includes the vents. It is only held by 4 clips, two at the bottom and two at the top. If it refuses to move it probably has something to do with the radio surround.
Once it is off, you need to remove the two pins at the base of the door - I used needle nosed pliers, but watch out for the round spring on the left hand pin. Change the door, insert the spring under tension and push in the pins- wallah! Door fitted. The while lot then pushes back into the dash and the plasic frame fitted around the radio. Job done.

Get some insulating tape and put it across the top between the dashboard and the air vents
Like this:
dashboard
----tape----
vents
Then, with a screwdriver wrapped in insulating tape, insert between the vents and the tape on the dash board, and lever the screwdriver down and outwards. They should pop out quite easily.
Once the vents are exposed, continue to pull them by hand - should be fairly easy to do
Hope that helps

The surround was extremely tight and levering with the screwdriver did the trick.
