Default random vibration

Hi, had my S2k since early Jan. 56 plate with 42k on the clock.

I'm now noticing that on some surfaces there seems to be some vibration coming through the car. It's bit odd as it's only on certain roads - not necessarily bumpy and in particular a main road that I live just off which was actually resurfaced not so long ago (no pot holes). The car drives straight, no tyre issues (running potenzas all round) and no tracking balancing issues. As I say it's only the odd road (1 in particular). I believe the tyres have nitrogen in them.

The steering wheel isn't vibrating ..... it's just a vibration through the car in general. I can literally drive out of my close to the main road and all is ok. Then onto the main road I can feel the vibration. I get to say 100m up the road and it's all fine. Rest of the journey generally OK. Never felt it in my type r or the wifes corsa.

Is the S2k just very sensitive to particular surfaces?

Anyone experience similar? Is it a characteristic?

Is it on acceleration in particular?

If so - CV joints, swap them over

Hi, no not really on acceleration ..... I can be just doing a steady 30. There may have been some on acceleration somewhere but I don't recall (as I say its only on the odd road/surface).

What are CV joints :-) and why swap them over? (I assume you mean rotate/switch - not buy new ones)

thanks

The road (or section of) is a 30 and I stick to it (well nearly) so no major acceleration or deceleration and we are talking less than 100-200m (it's probably less than 100m where it appears) .... like most of the rest of my small commute there is no hard acceleration.

If it's clear tomorrow I will give a bit to see.

Get all that myself, just crap roads that need resurfacing, or in your case have been done badly, but hell the country is so poor, we just have to live with it.
It's just the S with its stiff suspension giving you feedback.

Post up where the road is, mabey a fellow owner could drive along it and give you some feedback.
I have a road in Wadebridge,Cornwall, after Tescos heading into town, looks perfectly normal, sounds and feels like rumble strips.

Same on the A34 towards Shirley from Junction 4 of the M42. However, how bad is the road surface on the M42 between Junctions 3 and 4?!?

Rich, think your right ..... new roads that are not particularly well done. I can feel lots going under my backside and it is a fidgety ride so probably that. I've noticed it on newer surfaces more than any other. On another related note just had a bit of a blast down some different roads and also the motorway (which I rarely use) and no issues when accelerating .... in fact felt lovely just coming off a slip road onto the motorway ... in 3rd I think .... kept it planted and no issues, just went straight with no vibration. Must add it feels a different car with the roof down.

cheers

If it feels fidgety you might need to have the geo checked out and have a look at the tyres tread/brand/pressures as you are new to the S. But thats nothing to do with the poor roads, just good practice.
