Default RE002 Tyre Wear

Evening all
Question to RE002 users running on 16" rims (although interested in hearing from 17" users too).
What sort of life are you guys getting out of these? Since changing to these from the RE50A's, the grip is much better in the wet, dry and cold, however, the life has been terrible.

With the RE50A's, I could expect around 7000-8000 miles out of a set of rears.
With the RE002's, I'm not even getting 50% of that.

Example. I got a set of rears put on in Jan @ 144k.
I checked my tyres this weekend, and there is around 2mm left - across the tyre - @ 147k
That means I have only got around 3.5k out of these. I may be able to push to 4k.

The wear on the tyres is even, and shows no signs of tracking issues etc. I commute to/from work every day on mostly 40-60 mph roads. I occasionally have a spirited drive, but NEVER spin up the wheels, never do burnout or fast starts from lights etc, lock up, or have the back end step out. Obviously having been winter too, driving has been a lot more conservative. I would consider myself the average driver when it comes to driving on a daily basis - little bit of vtec here and there, but generally sensible.

To me, the life seems way below what I would expect. The car is lowered by 1", and I am running the Koni Yellow's on their stiffest settings, however, I didn't get much more out of them on the old stock shocks/setup either.

Anyone care to share their experience with this tyre, and/or have recommendations?

I have RE002's on my 99 car. the last rear pair did about 9K and I only changed them because they got to 4mm tread depth !

If I was a betting man I would say you are running excessive toe in on the rear, AKA tyre eater

Can we refer to this as Stook Knuckle?

9K!? Wowza.. definitely off then. I've been fighting a 'clunking' noise for the past year and a bit - I'm getting the drop links changed this week as they have a little bit of play in and to hopefully resolve this noise. Do you think faulty/failing drop links could cause excessive tyre wear?

I'd be looking at the rear toe arms, not just the drop links.

I'm getting another geo done too, but TGM haven't found anything wrong with the toe arms thus far. Will ask them to double check it.

Mine lasted about the same as the S02s and RE050a before that. That included the track days as well.

I made the same switch and I found I got slightly less miles out of a set, but more like 3/4.

I do a lot of motorway miles though.

Actually I also don't think the turn in is as sharp with them either.
I find grip is pretty good and they were predictable on an airfield day, but somehow felt softer.

They are definitely softer, but the mileage I got out of that last set is very bizarre. I'm hoping now that I have sorted several of the issues plaguing my car, the next set should be better.
